This section uses step by step project lessons to lead students through the construction of a tourism web site for the city of each student's choosing. While working through the lessons, the students will be learning and incorporating all the basic features of Flash.
Project Lesson 1 - Drawing Your BannerIn this lesson you will put their drawing skills to good use to make a banner that will appear in every scene or page of the tourism web site.
Project Lesson 2 - Animating ButtonsThis lesson carefully leads you through the creation and duplication of animated buttons for use in the banner you created in the first project lesson. These buttons will be used to navigate throughout the entire site.
Project Lesson 3 - Creating an Animated LogoMany organizations and companies have their own logo, symbol or graphic that represents what they are all about. In this lesson you will make an animated logo. This logo will use the Shape Teen to morph from one object to another, going through a cycle of four objects, then returning back to the first.
Project Lesson 4 - Linking Buttons to ScenesMaking the buttons actually work is done by assigning Actions to them. This is not done during the construction of a button, but after it is placed on the stage. In this lesson you will assign actions to all the buttons so they link to the proper scenes in your web site.
Project Lesson 5 - Completing the Home SceneIn this lesson you will import photos, then insert them into the home scene. You will also align a body of text into the page that will introduce visitors to your city and your web site.
Project Lesson 6 - The Dining SceneAn enjoyable part of every vacation is eating! In this page you will place a Rotating Image Fade in the scene that will rotate 4 photos. Also featured will be a scrolling text box, which allows users to scroll through text in a confined area of the page.
Project Lesson 7 - The Hotels and Lodging SceneThis scene will showcase a map of your city featuring your 5 highest rated hotels. Each hotel will be displayed on the map as an animated button. These buttons will not be used for navigation, but exclusively for displaying information about your city's 5 highest rated hotels.
Project Lesson 8 - The Attractions SceneThis scene will display information about your city's upcoming attractions. New with release of the MX version of Flash is the ability to play video inside a Flash movie. In this lesson you will add text, then place a video in your scene.
Project Lesson 9- The Weather SceneDisplaying the day's weather conditions and the 3 day forecast is the focus of the Weather Scene. This scene will teach you how to animate a motion tweened object along a path that you will determine.
Project Lesson 10 - The Contact SceneThis final scene will give visitors to your web site all the information they need to contact your Department of Tourism. You will also learn how to use the Mask feature in the construction of a banner ad. Lastly the publishing process will be covered. This process is needed to put your Flash movie into its final "web ready" format.
Project Lesson 11 - The Preloader SceneThis scene will play an animation for the viewer while the site loads onto their computer.
Project Lesson 12 - Publishing your SiteJust a few things remain to ensure that your site is complete, error free, fully functional, and in its final form. This lesson will place the finishing touches on your site. The publishing process is needed to put your Flash web site into its final "web ready" file format.
